Inside the World of Vancouver Rock Band, Momentary.

We discovered Momentary from their track ‘All Around Me’ and were instantly hooked on their sound and overall vibe. The sound they bring will give you hard-hitting feels, perfect for all the mind-numbingness you may need.

This is a rare TOP8 take, but their entire self-titled EP (released October 2025) is front-to-back bangers. Every track hits just as hard as the last. From the instrumentals to the occasional screams to the numbing, almost hypnotic delivery, it all just WORKS. We’re more than impressed.

We caught up with the band so you could get to know them a little better:

“We’re Momentary, a 4-piece rock band from the Vancouver area of BC, Canada. Momentary started as an outlet to explore different musical ideas adjacent to our other current and former musical endeavours. Our bass player/vocalist (Connor) and our drummer (Jordan) previously played in a now-defunct metalcore project called Incision. Our lead guitar player (Rowan) currently plays in another active rock project called Tablespoons, and our rhythm guitar player/vocalist (Travis) also plays in an active pop-punk project called Cloud Sick.”

Momentary isn’t trying to reinvent rock music; they’re here to play the music they want to out of their love for the tunes.  “We’re not trying to pander to nostalgia or chase trends. We’re just making the kind of music that makes the most sense to us and not overcomplicating it beyond that. Momentary is meant to be listened to, not decoded. We’ve been mindful of our writing to not sound like any one band in particular. We know there are some acts out there who love to pander to a certain band or sound, essentially sounding like a worship tribute act to said band(s). We’ve never sat down and said, “Let’s just write a song that sounds exactly like *insert song* by *insert band*. Some bands have dug back to the rock acts of the 90’s/early 2000’s for inspiration, but we’ve all collectively been pretty inspired by what a lot of bands in the last decade have brought to the table.”

While they’re committed to staying in their own lane, we were curious about which artists have helped shape the direction they’re taking with the band.

“Five bands that we’ve definitely been directly inspired by include Soul Blind, Modern Colour, Superheaven, Fleshwater, and Narrow Head.” We also had to find out who their ultimate tour bucket-list act would be. “That’s tough. Let’s keep it grounded, switch up the question a bit, and formulate it as a hypothetical tour package. 4 band bill: Basement, Leaving Time, Money, & us (Momentary). That would rock."

A song the band chose for new listeners to dive into first is the same track that pulled us in and got us hooked.“If we could choose any song to show a new listener, it would have to be 'All Around Me.' We believe that song showcases a lot of what makes our sound. ‘All Around Me’ was one of those songs we kept circling back to after we kept saying it was done. Making little adjustments here and there with the guitar leads and bass lines. We had worked out a couple of different vocal melodies and lyric sheets over this track until something finally stuck properly and felt right. Lyrically, the song revolves around the simple premise of needing mental freedom from someone who still has a hold on you, whoever that may be.”

So what’s next for everyone’s new favorite band? New music, exactly what we wanted to hear.

“Currently, we’ve been busy working behind the scenes on new content and new music. We’ve got a whole folder of new demos fleshed out, but are working them into complete finished tracks as we speak. We plan to hit the studio to record new music in the coming months.”

Momentary is a band you need to keep up with.

We’re more than ready for the next round of new tunes and can’t wait to hear what’s coming.

Hit play ASAP.
