Just Dropped: Addi John is back with 'Start Again'.

Canadian Indie-Folk singer Addi John leans into the feeling of letting go and starting over in his most recent track. 'Start Again,' tugs on leaving behind the familiarity to make room for something more.

"'Start Again' is a song about overcoming the fear that surrounds starting over at different parts in our lives. We're so scared to let things go that don't serve us at all, but they feel regular and familiar, so we hold on to them because we worked for these things. Be it a job, a relationship, maybe even tangible items." Addi shared with TOP8 Scene.

'Start Again' was inspired by his mother and brother starting fresh in a new country after his father's death. "This struck a nerve with me and kind of reminded me that starting over isn't a bad thing at all. When we let go of past things, new things can grow." Upon first listen, you can tell how vulnerable the track is. 

The song also marks Addi John's first time incorporating a French verse. Translated with help from his wife, the track serves as another taste of his upcoming self-produced EP, Love and Misfortunes, set to arrive this fall.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is scary for everyone, but the message this song gives is one that we all need to hear. Starting over isn't always easy, but the reward is worth it. The feeling that comes along with it brings freedom and change, even if it doesn't seem possible. 'Start Again' feels like a letter to your inner child, saying it's okay to be scared, that things change for better or worse, and that we keep going no matter what. Addi delivered a beautiful indie track as always, it's raw and stripped down, picks up in the most exciting way, and is unique with the French verse taking us by surprise. Spin it.
