SAN ANTONIO, TX — August Burns Red performed at the Vibes Event Center on April 22 as part of their Spring Horizons Tour, delivering a high-energy set to a near-capacity crowd.
For over 23 years, August Burns Red has been one of those bands everyone respects and admires; they’re that band that stays consistent no matter what. Making angry music for happy people is their slogan, and we are here for every bit of it. Energetic, chaotic, and supportive is only a glimpse of what you can expect from them.
They need no introduction. When you think of metal/metalcore, ABR has always been at the forefront of the scene, no questions asked, immediate yes. You can imagine how ready the crowd was when we were able to catch them in San Antonio, TX, on April 22nd. The band kicked it off with ‘Meddler,’ and the show was packed, pretty much at capacity. Fans came ready with their two-stepping shoes and high energy. Don’t get us started on the crowd surfers, especially during ‘Invisible Enemy’... there were over 20+ of them surfing away and having a blast. No matter how old you are, the scene accepts and loves everyone just the same, so being at an August Burns Red show feels like being in a room full of your friends.
During all the openers, the vibes stayed consistent, and the crowd was there for a good time from start to finish. Opening band ‘Boundaries’ made it a point to call out the San Antonio hardcore scene for their support over the years, saying, “San Antonio! Out of all the places in the world, you’re our favorite place to play ever! You’re one of the last hardcore cities out there. Go to more local shows and show them what hardcore is.” We couldn't agree more, always giving every band on the bill attention and energy tenfold.
August Burns Red is constantly blowing past limits, especially during their live shows, which is a huge reason why they get 8 stars from us. They played a good mix of old and new songs, and there were no misses in the setlist. The crowd was high-energy for every single tune from start to finish, proving how their discography runs deep, banger after banger. If you know August Burns Red, you know they have always been experts at what they do.
With their new album ‘Season of Surrender’ set to release in June, they released singles ‘Behemoth’ and ‘The Nameless’. If those tracks are any indication of what the upcoming album will be like, we are all in for the biggest treat.
When we first dove into metal, ABR was one of the first bands on our playlist, and let us tell you it was worth every second, as I'm sure it has been for a lot of listeners. Having the opportunity to see them perform over the years has been incredible because you can tell they give their all to the craft and love what they do.

We can only hope August Burns Red keeps making music for as long as possible, whether it’s Christmas instrumentals or albums that stay on rotation, even burning tongues with their external cannon hot sauce; they keep raising the bar. One thing is for sure: you will always feel a great vibe at their shows. We can’t say enough amazing things about ABR, so you’ll have to catch them on The Spring Horizons Tour with support from Heavensgate, Boundaries, and The Amity Affliction, and witness greatness yourselves.
