TOP8 SONG PICKS WITH THE BAND HALOGENS TOP8SCENE

We recently caught up with New Jersey rock/emo band Halogens to chat about their 15th anniversary, and in true TOP8 fashion, we had them share some of their picks with the world. We had George and Christian tell you the TOP8 Halogens tracks you should check out!

HALOGENS TOP8 PICKS: An Interview.

HALOGENS TOP8 PICKS : TOP8 SCENE
Ayudame: This is our “mission statement” song and does a great job of concisely explaining Halogens’ overall vibe- sad in the key of happy.

Talking Shit: This is probably the song I’d feel the most comfortable sharing with somebody’s parents with the exception of it having a curse word in the title. It’s radio-friendly-ish, minus the title, and is a pretty easy listen.

Buckle / Sometimes: These are consistently the tightest / most impactful songs we play live. Also, they showcase Zach’s honesty and emotional depth lyrically and the band’s sonic range as a whole. Shout out to Charlie’s slide leads. (Two songs included for this one since Sometimes is essentially a 1.5-minute reprise of Buckle).

Pretty Enough: Continuing to showcase Zach’s honesty in his lyrics and the band’s sonic range, just in a different, more dynamic direction than the previous songs.

The Backwoods: This song is by far our most-streamed across platforms, most likely due to this song getting a feature on Anthony Fantano’s The Needle Drop shortly after it came out. Also, an epic guitar solo at the end.

Carcinogens: Introduction to electronic drums and showcasing a more poppy direction that we hadn’t tried previously.

Kitchen Sink: An emo/pop punk banger very reminiscent of 2015 bands with a similar sound (Head North, A Will Away, Have Mercy, etc).

Time Well Spent: The ending credits! This song showcases a growth in the maturity of songwriting. Also, I love the lyrics at the end, and knowing that Zach wrote them the night before we recorded this song in the studio makes it that much more impressive to me. Zach’s my favorite lyricist tbh.
