WALLINGFORD, CT — Australian metalcore icons Northlane brought their high-energy to The Dome at The Oakdale on May 2nd. A part of Dayseeker’s The Pale Moonlight Tour, they performed as the last supporting act before the headliner.
What made Northlane different was the vibes they created on stage; they brought their dark, powerful atmosphere to the packed house. Crowd surfers poured in as the opening track, ‘Carbonized,’ filled the room. Northlane brings a unique energy to the metalcore space, closing off with ‘Clockwork.’
Surrounded by different lighting and shadows, the band members often appeared in what seemed like flashes. As vocalist Marcus Bridges showcased his striking vocals, he moved across the stage between strobes and haze. The performance kept listeners wanting more, creating an energy that matched the weight of their sound. The atmosphere spoke for itself; the excitement added energy during their performance. Northlane gave one of the most memorable performances of the night.
Ask anyone about Northlane, and they will tell you it’s constant heavy hitters. Having multiple ARIA number 1 albums, their music tells a story, with metal and electronic influences. Northlane has definitely made a name for themselves, and their live shows are a reflection of that. Being from Australia, a country known for having extremely talented acts in the scene, it’s no secret that they have quite a few metalcore powerhouses under their belt.
TOP8’S TAKE:
Northlane is one of those bands that is dominating the metalcore scene. Having just released their latest single ‘Evian’ just in time for summer, we’re excited to see what this new era brings for the 4-piece. We said it once, and we will continue to say it: this tour comes packed with a lineup to remember alongside Northlane, including Windwalkers, Sace6, and headliners Dayseeker. All the bands on this bill will leave you ‘Running on a feeling,’ and our advice is to catch this incredible tour before it ends, because if there’s one thing you need to know, it’s that you may end up in a circle pit, and you will have the time of your life.
