THEY MAY BE CALLED LIVING ROOM FOR SMALL

But let us tell you, they're far from that.

Having supported acts including names like Games We Play and JUNO award-winning artists Lights and Arkells, this alternative-pop band based out of Waterloo and Toronto, Canada, is making waves in the alternative and indie music scene. We can see why.

The band dropped their first EP in February of 2023, followed by their debut full-length album called “PRETTY LITTLE DROPDEAD GORGEOUS” in April of 2024, and clearly have no plans of slowing down. The second we hit play, we instantly started vibing to their sound. This band is full of catchy, chill, and sonically pleasing tunes that will live in your head rent-free. In our opinion? They’re perfect for late-night car rides, setting the vibe instantly.

THE BEST THING ABOUT THEM?

They don't stick to one specific sound.

“tired.”, their latest release, is a super chill, vibey track that touches on heartbreak and missing someone so much that you don’t even remember what it feels like to be alive. It's a song that everyone can relate to at some point in their life, and is the perfect soundtrack for when you're heartbroken. It’s catchy, emotional, and layered with insane harmonies that make the band sound completely out of this world.

In contrast, their track “OMG!” has some musically heavier moments, which feel genre-bending. You can tell it’s the same band that released “tired.” but it has a different edge to it. The song incorporates raw vocals that really hit you in the chest with the screaming aspect. Overall, “OMG!” brings a lot of energy to their discography and proves that the band isn’t stuck in one lane. That they can do anything and make it sound good. The vocals on the track are killer, and it’s a tune we immediately added to our playlists.

"I JUST WANNA SEE A WHOLE ROOM OF PEOPLE JUST CRYING AND JUMPING"

That’s how their track “WASTE MY TWENTIES” kicks off, a perfect take on how the song makes you feel. The track features an upbeat intro before easing into a calmer-sounding verse, a good mix of both sounds we already touched on. The energy builds as the song progresses, with lyrics that hit close to home. This song reflects on how time moves fast, and nobody wants to waste another year doing the same old thing.

With an instantly singable chorus, it’s one of those tracks you can picture yourself screaming to at a show, not missing a word.

OUR TAKE?

Living Room for Small is climbing the ladder in the alt-pop scene for good reason. They have a diverse sound, creating plenty of room for fans of different genres. They will have you turning up the volume and singing along, but you can also hit play and chill while listening to them, too, a perfect balance for whatever mood you’re in. They write about impactful topics and are definitely a band you can feel all the emotions with.

So what's next?

Living Room for Small has a handful of shows coming up and will be supporting Virginia to Vegas this December.

Stay tuned, new music is on the horizon.
