If senses Aren’t on Your Radar Yet,
Their Chicago Show Proved They Should Be.
Let us tell you about senses. Who are they? Based in Los Angeles, senses has quickly made a name for themselves, and their rise has been nothing short of amazing. They’re everyone’s new favorites that met on… Craigslist. We’re not kidding, and yeah, they’re exactly as cool as the name sounds.
Forming in 2019, this duo leans into the emo scene with their fresh spin on pop punk. It wasn’t always easy; having worked their way up from shows in small dive bars, they’re now getting the flowers they deserve, playing bigger shows, and signing to the iconic Hopeless Records. They continue to prove that they are making their mark and are here to keep raising the bar.
senses is currently on the road in support of The Summer Set on the Meet Me At The Record Tour for good reason; they’re on our radar, and they should be on yours, too. We got the chance to check them out at the House of Blues in Chicago, and we have the 411 for you from their stop on March 21st. They performed alongside People R Ugly, Good Boy Daisy, and, of course, The Summer Set, which is pretty major to anyone (ever).
The venue was full of fans of all ages, and the energy was real ahead of the band’s set, senses being the last of the three supporting acts before The Summer Set would take the stage. They opened with the banger ‘clean cut’, the perfect song to set the vibe and get the night rolling. Their presence was electrifying. Watching singer Madison Taylor and drummer Nick Sampson (the ultimate hype man) do their thing doesn’t feel as if you are just there to watch a gig; you feel like you’re there with them.
The band played tunes like ‘you and i’, and ‘playing dead’, but an unexpected moment? They covered Hilary Duff’s ‘Come Clean’. Obviously, the reaction from concertgoers was pure excitement. After running through a 12-song set, the duo closed their portion of the night with two fan faves, ‘sleepwalking’ and ‘better than this’. They were the perfect support (that felt like a main act) on this tour; their energy really resonated with the crowd and exceeded expectations.
TOP8’s Take?
senses is the kind of band that makes you want to tiptoe back onto MSN and put your status as “I want you to want me”. They have that undeniable energy you can’t ignore; pop punk runs through their veins. They have a way of keeping you captivated while also making you feel seen, giving listeners a safe space to release just about everything they may or may not have realized they’ve been holding on to.
They’re that kind of band that makes you feel like 2026 and 2013 procreated, and now we have this dynamic duo who are absolutely nailing it, and they’re just getting started.
