Matty Mullins is officially making his mark as Anberlin’s vocalist.

The 5-piece rock band just announced their ninth album, CURRENCY, to be released on November 11, and the accompanying single, “NEVERAFTER,” marking the first album release since Mullins took over for Stephen Christian as lead vocalist in 2023.

CURRENCY follows the band’s 2024 release, Vega, which featured Mullins on vocals on two tracks on the album, and showcases a renewed creative energy for the band – who have had no trouble evolving over the course of their 25-year career.

The 11-track album will embrace Anberlin’s past and future, and show that growth and reinvention can coexist without sacrificing the identity the band has worked hard to sculpt over two and a half decades.

“The overall theme of CURRENCY is what happens after everything you built your identity on falls apart,” Mullins said. “It’s a journey through heartbreak, loss, addiction, shame, and the lies we tell ourselves…it’s about finding the strength to face the truth, let go of what was killing you, and become someone new.”

Anberlin is moving forward with confidence with CURRENCY. With a collection of unfinished songs, Mullins was able to leave his own mark on the tracks to commemorate his first full album with the band.

Tracks like “Neverafter,” “Highstakes,” and “Trenches,” featuring Switchfoot, reiterate Anberlin’s commitment to honest and resilient music. CURRENCY is a symbol of renewal, celebrating everything the band has been and everything waiting for them in the future.
