Southern California’s Fox Thoughts have just dropped their debut release, the 6-track EP, “Demo 2026.” This project blends emotional vulnerability with raw tension, pulling from the post-hardcore, emo, and alternative genres.
The six-track EP feels oddly nostalgic and fresh at the same time, drawing from the 2010 Run For Cover Records era, which included acts such as Man Overboard, Title Fight, Tigers Jaw, and Fireworks.
The project ties together indie rock vulnerability, gritty pop textures, and moments of intensity. Fox Thoughts has created a tug-of-war between abrasion and melody, leaving room for interpretation.
“Demo 2026” is entirely self-produced and was not intended for a fully polished sound, keeping true to their DIY upbringing. Opening track Tourniquet examines the compulsive nature of creativity while Out In The Wind is written from the POV of the vocalist’s mother, confronting the reality of a lifelong relationship, and analyzes how self-actualization can be both destructive and necessary.
The 6 tracks as a whole are a display of melodic versatility and give a glimpse into the future of Fox Thoughts.
Catch them live in South Gate, Calif. On May 27 at Buena Mesa.
"Demo 2026” is available on Spotify.
