Hometown Heroes make their debut with new release 'Medicated'

If you’ve been looking for your next favorite Canadian band, look no further than Hometown Heroes, based out of Toronto/Newmarket. Heavy pop-punkers built this band on years of friendship, which to us is the perfect recipe for a great band. The five-piece released their debut single, ‘Medicated’, and it’s worth your while if you’re a lover of the genre. 

Nick Cassidy, Cam McDavid, Alex Hicks, Daniel Korman, and Dash Ilma all have a lot in common, but one thing that stands out is their shared bond over making music; it’s definitely a big part of the chemistry they share. Taking inspiration from bands like ADTR, Alexisonfire, The Holly Springs Disaster, and Cancer Bats, they decided to blend those all together to create ‘Medicated’. “We wanted to take the heavier guitars and breakdowns we grew up listening to and loving, and mix them with pop vocals and the catchiest hooks we could write. We’re not the first to do it, but we’re doing our best to put our own spin on it.” Shares Cam.

Growing up in the 905, as we call it, that strong sense of appreciation for their hometown is evident, and the chemistry they have as friends only makes them stronger. “Nick and I have known each other since we were babies. Hicks and I played together in a band in high school with Nick’s older brother. Dan and I also played together in a band after high school,” Cam explains. 

With Cam and Nick also having backgrounds in producing, everything seemed to have fallen into place for Hometown Heroes, and their sound proves it.

For a debut single, this is a strong start for Hometown Heroes. ‘Medicated’ is a catchy, nostalgic pop-punk anthem that immediately hits you with fun guitars, a heavy vibe, and an upbeat chorus that has you wanting to jump and sing along. This is just the beginning, and we’re stoked to see what the band has in store for the future.
