Meet Jenny Palacios: Toronto’s Indie-Alternative Artist to Watch
Toronto indie-alternative and Vietnamese-Peruvian artist Jenny Palacios released her newest single, 'Ruin Your Life,' and we've been blasting it ever since. The track has heavy moments but is fun all around, and, more importantly, it's raw. Jenny explains that the track wasn't meant to be angry; it was just a sense of trying to figure out those overwhelming emotions. “I realized I wasn't really angry at anyone; I think I was just really overwhelmed. The song became less about ruining someone else's life and more about trying to escape your own head… we kept the title because it’s fun.”
'Ruin Your Life' is one of those songs that gives you a snippet of what it can be like having celebrations or accomplishments happen around you but not being able to shut your brain off and keep things quiet. It started as a playful idea, then ended up being something a lot more personal than planned. Self-reflection and the challenge of growing older can be bittersweet.
We caught up with Jenny to ask the TOP8 things that would ruin her life, and much like the track, it was playful yet touching to hear some of the answers she had for us.
