Telling it how it is, while being one of the coolest-sounding bands in the scene currently, Chronic Fatigue
consists of vocalist Sam Patterson, guitarist Sean Wilson, bassist Dylan Bondy, and drummer Quinn Letendre. This genre-bending band’s sound will hit you to the core with their mix of punk, hardcore, and hip-hop on their track “Who’s Next.”
The track may be their most direct statement yet, and is a standout in their discography. The band says the song feels like the most important song they have ever written due to the political nature of the lyrics, “Many of our songs hide beneath a layer of irony or satire, so to go all out on this one with no jokes or characters has kind of unlocked something for myself as a writer.” Sam shares
With the state of the world at the moment, this song is needed, and what better way to get a message across than in the punk scene?
The vulnerability of this drop has sparked concerns for Chronic Fatigue. Patterson admits the band wondered whether releasing such an outspoken song might affect their ability to play shows in the United States or even alienate potential listeners. Ultimately, they chose to stay true to themselves and their beliefs, rather than walking on eggshells.
“Putting those concerns aside and releasing this song as it is feels so gratifying as an artist,” he says. “Seeing how this song resonates with a crowd makes me feel less alone, like there’s other people out there who believe in what’s right and won’t stand by for all this nonsense.”
Beyond its message, “Who’s Next” captures the same explosive spirit that’s been fueling Chronic Fatigue’s live shows. The single follows their previous releases, including the 2025 EP Surrender To Serenity and 2024’s Don’t Sleep On It, but this is the beginning of a bold new chapter for the band as they gear up for their debut album.
TOP8’s Take?
If “Who’s Next” is anything of what’s to come, Chronic Fatigue’s first full-length won’t just be loud, it will be raw, and important. The track goes hard, it’s heavy, it’s cool to the core, and the hip-hop aspect is a refreshing addition to the mix of genres the band brings. Everything blends seamlessly well, and this is a track we’ll continue to be spinning. Plus, we need more bands speaking out on the madness. We’re beyond stoked for their future releases. Go give it a listen.
