TOP8 loves Hawthorne Heights, and so does Thriller Records.
The Los Angeles- and Ohio-based independent record label, founded by Bob Becker (founder, Fearless Records) and Nick Moore (founder, InVogue Records), is excited to announce the signing of Dayton, Ohio-based powerhouse Hawthorne Heights to their roster.
To celebrate, the band is releasing their first single on the new deal, “Carry Me,” out today - with the accompanying music video releasing at 12 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 30. The brand new track offers a glimpse into what’s ahead, while staying true to their signature sound.
“I try to find ways to find hope in the darkness, and that is where ‘Carry Me’ is coming from,” vocalist JT Woodruff said. “It feels pretty bleak right now, mostly due to things people can’t change on their own, so I currently feel a lot of anger. This song brought out an anger in my voice that hasn’t been there for a while, and I embraced it.”
According to the band, “Carry Me” is about finding yourselves on the edge of your mind, where everything is overwhelming. Fans will notice some callbacks, but the song is very much rooted in the present.
“What is gone is the era of fans coding songs they love into their Myspace players, just for the love of music discovery,” Woodruff said. “What is left is a dark ocean where people get dragged into the current of the blue light from their phone, and it just drags them under. It’s overwhelming, because it should be.”
Woodruff concluded, “...In the world of Hawthorne Heights, there is always hope.”
