Kami Kehoe Gets Vulnerable with “PSYCHO,” Taking Aim at Toxic Ex
Alt-rock star Kami Kehoe surprise-dropped her latest single, “PSYCHO,” via Atlantic Records on Friday, April 24, 2026, and she’s set the record straight in case there was any doubt. There’s no room for toxicity of any kind in her life.
The 22-year-old Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has sharpened her versatile, hard-charged rock sound and channeled that energy into “PSYCHO,” with heavier breakdowns, bringing the track to life with more electronic elements, not as commonly found in her earlier releases.
“I was in such an angry state of mind while being in a toxic relationship that kept going in circles,” Kehoe said about her inspiration for the song. “I had to face the fact that they never loved me; they just wanted to control me. ‘PSYCHO’ was how I made sense of it all.”
The emotionally charged song takes aim at toxicity and the feelings that accompany processing that. Kehoe’s vocals make the pain and anger she felt about her toxic ex while they kept trying to re-enter her life, much like a “psycho,” abundantly clear.
The song clocks in at just over 2 minutes and gives us an idea of what to expect from her upcoming full-length album. “PSYCHO” is her fourth release so far in 2026, following a cover of “Sex on Fire” released in January, a powerballed titled “HEARTLESS” released in February, and [Gen]inside, a collaboration with Catch Your Breath, released earlier in April.
Don’t look in the rearview – Kami Kehoe has no plans of slowing down, and the rising star will be approaching the top of the charts in no time.
Catch her on tour this fall with Breaking Benjamin and Chevelle. Tour starts Sept. 2 in Camden, NJ, and runs through Oct. 24 in Bristow, VA. Tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
